  • 文森‧梵谷 (1853-1890) 出生荷兰,为后印象派画家,他的作品以粗略的美感、情感的真实,及胆大的色系而著名,他对 20 世纪的艺术有深远的影响。

  • 甘地 (1869-1948) 毕业于英国伦敦大学,回国后带领印度人民以非暴力、不合作的抗议方式脱离英国的殖民统治而赢得独立,并鼓舞世界其它地方的人权及自由运动,包括美国的 Martin Luther King (马丁路德)、南非前总统 Nelson Mandela (曼德拉)。

  • “lack” 是「缺少」,为动词。”will” 是「意志,决心」,为名词,如:Where there is a will, there is a way. (有决心就有方法。)
  • 维克多‧雨果 (1802-1885) 是法国浪漫主义作家代表人物,为诗人、小说家,剧作家,小说以《孤星泪》及《钟楼怪人》最为著名,前者后来被改编为音乐剧《悲惨世界》,他的作品多与当代的政治、社会及艺术议题有关。
