  • “it doesn’t (won’t) matter” 是「不重要;不打緊」。”whether” 是「是否」,為連接詞,後面通常接名詞子句,由兩個可能選一個。如:Whether you like it or not is not their concern. (你喜不喜歡並不是他們所關心的。) “tough” 與 “easy” 意思剛好相反,前者是「困難」,後者是「容易」,為形容詞。”competition” 是「競爭」,為名詞,”compete” 則為動詞;”competitor” 是「競爭者」;”competitive” 是「愛競爭的;有競爭力的」。
  • 里克‧皮提諾 (1952- ) 為美國大學男籃教練,自 2001 年帶領 University of Louisville 至今,為大學男籃史上第一位帶領 3 支不同球隊 (Providence College, University of Kentucky, and University of Louisville) 打入全國男籃 Final Four (最後四強) 的教練。註:美國男籃冠軍賽採淘汰賽制,由 64 支隊伍開打,一輪過後即剩 32 支隊伍,勝出隊伍被稱為 Sweet 16,再來 Elite 8,最後 Final 4,勝出隊伍再打冠軍賽。

  • 威廉福克納 (1897-1962) 是美國小說家及短篇故事作家,在 1949 年獲得諾貝爾文學獎,被認做是 20 世紀最具有影響力的作家之一。
