Jonathan Ive (設計師)

“Being superficially different is the goal of so many of the products we see . . . rather than trying to innovate and genuinely taking the time, investing the resources and caring enough to try and make something better.”

— Jonathan Ive, Product Designer

  • superficially (adv.) 例:He was superficially interested. genuinely (adv.) 例:She seemed genuinely interested.

“Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.”

  • like (prep.) She’s very like her mother. feel (v.) She felt his forehead to check if he had a temperature.

“In most people’s vocabularies, design means veneer. It’s interior decorating. It’s the fabric of the curtains of the sofa. But to me, nothing could be further from the meaning of design. Design is the fundamental soul of a human-made creation that ends up expressing itself in successive outer layers of the product or service.”

  • veneer (n.) fabric (n.) fundamental (adj.) express (v.) successive (adj.)
  • nothing could be further from… Nothing could be further from the truth.
