• inspire (v.) 激起，激發。例：Her success has inspired many to follow her steps. (她的成功激發許多人跟隨她的腳步。) motivate (v.) 鼓舞，促動。例：The performance-based bonus has motivated staff to work harder. (績效獎金促使員工更努力。)
• 丹妮絲‧莫里森 (1954- ) 是全球最大湯品製造商金寶湯公司 (Campbell Soup) 的總裁兼執行長，2010 年被《財富》雜誌列為「全球最具影響力女性」第 21 名的女強人。

• correction (n.) 糾正，改正；correct (v.)。例：Please correct my pronunciation if it’s wrong. (如果我的發音不正確，請糾正我。) encouragement (n.) 鼓勵，慫恿；encourage (v.)。例：I don’t like his behavior. Don’t encourage him. (我不喜歡他的行為，別慫恿他。)
• 歌德 (1749-1832) 是德國人，被認為是德國最重要的文學家及西方主要思想家之一，他的作品含蓋詩、戲劇、文學、神學、及科學著作，包括小說 The Sorrows of Young Werther (少年維特的煩惱)。他也是博學家，著有 Theory of Colours (色彩理論)，他對生物的觀念也影響了後世的自然學家達爾文。

• consider (v.) 是「認為；把…當作」，如：Please consider this notice as our final warning. (請把這個通知當作是我們的最後警告。)  arouse (v.) 是「激起，激發」，如：This subject has aroused a lot of interest. (這個議題已激起很多人的興趣。)  among (prep.) 是「在…之中」。第二句話裡的 “the best that is in a man”，其中 “that is in a man” 為關係代名詞子句，修飾先行詞 “the best”。appreciation (n.) 是「欣賞，感謝」；appreciate 則是動詞，如：We really appreciate what you have done for us. (我們非常感謝你所為我們做的事。)
